Sandy Taylor Sandy Taylor is proud to have served as a co-op board member for 17 years, during many of which she has served as secretary. She helped launch Policy Governance which has streamlined procedures and improved efficiency. Sandy has served on four committees, including the Education Committee which plans monthly educational segments of board meetings. Also, she has been a part of the Change! For Our Community program since its beginning. A graduate of UNC-Chapel Hill and Northern State University, Sandy is a Licensed Professional Counselor and has worked in schools, hospitals, clinics and public welfare. Her background includes various managerial positions, writing and editing, and running an on-line business. Volunteer work includes counseling in suicide prevention and sexual assault organizations, the latter of which she was on the advisory board. Sandy was also on the board of Children Youth and Family Services in Charlottesville. Interests include environmental issues, social justice, and the arts. A long-time vegetarian, Sandy values good nutrition, as well as healthful and local food choices, including cruelty-free products. She believes in the importance of cooperative community, sustainable farming practices, and the support of local charitable organizations. Thus, serving on the board offers her the opportunity to live her values in a meaningful role. Sandy enjoys music, reading, and tending a small herb garden in her backyard which is a certified wildlife habitat. She and her husband have two grown children: a son here in Roanoke; and a daughter and her family in Colorado, and they look forward to family trips to the Outer Banks.
